Press reviews
"MALI BLUES is a gorgeous mix of resistance, cool music and absolute joie de vivre."
“What music can do in a country where Islamists have banned it is experienced by those who go to the cinema and listen to and watch the film MALI BLUES. The film tells of four musicians who not only want to heal themselves but also society as a whole with their music. It hits the heart, takes us to a country that vibrates and where music reconciles - full of longing and full of hope. "
"How deep the wounds are that the terrorists have left, not only in the music scene in Mali, is shown in the impressive documentary" Mali Blues "by Lutz Gregor."
“The camera captures meaningful impressions from everyday life, which predominantly takes place outside. [...] When people sing and dance, unrestrained joie de vivre breaks through, which can also be observed in the beautifully filmed concert sequences. [...] Lutz Gregor's film shows with great immediacy that Mali's musical tradition gives rise to a social spirit of resistance that in the future could not only seriously parade the Islamists in the country.
