Manfred Döpfner

Manfred Döpfner (born September 26, 1955 in Lauda ) is a German university professor , qualified psychologist , psychotherapist and author . He is considered an expert in the field of attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Life

Manfred Döpfner graduated from the technical high school in Bad Mergentheim in 1974 . In the same year he began studying psychology at the University of Mannheim , which he graduated with a diploma in 1981 . 1990 doctorate Döpfner Doctor of Human Biology (Dr. sc. Hum.) At the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg . 1998 habilitation he at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne and received the instructor for the subject psychopathology and psychotherapy of children and adolescents . In 1999 he was licensed as a psychological psychotherapist and as a child and adolescent psychotherapist .

From 1982 to 1988, Döpfner worked as a research assistant at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinic at the Central Institute for Mental Health at Heidelberg University in Mannheim.

Currently (as of February 2014) he is a senior psychologist at the clinic and polyclinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy of children and adolescents at the University of Cologne and as a university professor for psychotherapy in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Cologne University Hospital . He is also active as a psychological psychotherapist and child and adolescent psychotherapist, head of training at the training institute for behavior therapy in children and adolescents at the Cologne University Hospital (AKiP) and scientific director of the Cologne Institute of the Christoph Dornier Foundation for Clinical Psychology . He is also a scientific reviewer for child and adolescent behavior therapy and the like. a. of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and ad hoc reviewer for numerous scientific journals such as the magazine for educational psychology . Döpfner is the managing director of the management group of the Central ADHD Network, University Hospital Cologne.

Döpfner funded numerous research projects with third-party funds . His main research interests are the epidemiology of mental disorders as well as the development and evaluation of psychodiagnostic procedures and psychotherapeutic interventions, in particular for attention deficit / hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders , tic disorders and depressive disorders in childhood and adolescence.

Döpfner is married and has three children.
