Manfred Döring

Manfred Döring (born November 18, 1932 in Oberfrohna ) is a former major general of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) and commander of the Feliks Dzierzynski guard regiment .

Life

Manfred Döring was born in Oberfrohna in 1932 as the son of a tailor. After graduating from high school , he attended the commanding school of the Kasernierte People's Police (KVP) in 1952 and was appointed non-commissioned officer of the KVP in 1953. Between 1953 and 1956 he attended the officers' school of the KVP / NVA and then became a platoon leader . Since 1958 he was a trainer in the Berlin Guard Regiment of the MfS, later battery chief . In 1959 he was promoted to chief of staff of the artillery department and in 1961 appointed officer for operational work in the regimental staff. Since 1962 Döring was commander of the artillery department. He completed a three-year course of study at the Friedrich Engels Military Academy in 1968 as a graduate military scientist. In the same year he became commander of the 2nd command of the watch regiment "Feliks Dzierzynski". In 1971 he became the first deputy commander of the guard regiment. From 1975 to 1976 Döring was delegated to the “Karl Marx” party college of the SED Central Committee . In 1987 he finally took over command of the guard regiment from Major General Bernhard Elsner and was appointed Major General. As commander of the guard regiment, he commanded over 10,000 full-time employees of the MfS and was a. a. Responsible for guard and security services, personal and property protection as well as for the security of demonstrations and major events. In the course of the change in the GDR , Döring was released in March 1990.
