Manfred Mutz

Manfred Mutz (born January 18, 1945 in Werdorf ; † February 15, 2013 ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school in Herborn , Mutz completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter from 1961 to 1964. He continued his education at the Hessenkolleg in Rüsselsheim and took his Abitur there. He then began studying mathematics and physics at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen , which he completed with two state exams for teaching at grammar schools. From 1975 to 1978 he worked as a teacher in the vocational school. Later he was managing director of the data center of the Hessian municipalities (ekom 21) until 2006. Manfred Mutz died on February 15, 2013 after suffering from leukemia for many years .

Mutz had been a member of the SPD since 1965.

Mutz was a council member of the city ​​of Gießen and the city of Lahn and there from 1977 to 1979 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In 1978 he was elected to the Hessian state parliament. After his election as Lord Mayor of Giessen, he resigned his state parliament mandate on December 13, 1985.

Public offices

Mutz served as Lord Mayor of the city of Gießen from 1985 to 2003. In 2001 he was given leave of absence from this office.
