Dietlind Grabe-Bolz

Dietlind Grabe-Bolz (born June 19, 1957 in Kassel as Dietlind Grabe ) is a German musician , educator and politician ( SPD ). On June 7th, 2009 she was elected mayor of the city of Giessen . She was sworn in before the city council on November 19, 2009 and took office on December 13, 2009.

Dietlind Grabe-Bolz has lived in Gießen since she was five, where she also went to school and in 1976 passed her Abitur at the comprehensive school in Gießen-Mitte. She then studied politics and German from 1976 to 1982 for teaching at grammar schools at the Justus Liebig University. After passing the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools with distinction, she completed her legal clerkship from 1982 to 1984 at the comprehensive school in Hungen . This was followed by the second state examination for teaching at grammar schools, which Grabe-Bolz passed with a “good”. From 1984 to 1987 she studied music at the comprehensive university in Kassel and completed the additional music examination for teaching at middle and upper levels with distinction.

Professional and part-time activities

Since 1979 Dietlind Grabe-Bolz has been working with children's songwriter, author and linguist Fredrik Vahle at concerts (as a musician), sound recordings (around 20 CDs and MCs so far) and seminars, including at the Goethe Institutes in Bordeaux , Amsterdam , Manchester and Thessaloniki , together.

From 1987 to 1988 she worked as a research assistant at the Center for Interdisciplinary Teaching at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen , where she held a teaching position in the Political Science Department from 1992 to 1994 .

1994/1995 Grabe-Bolz directed adult education courses “German as a foreign language” at the adult education center in Gießen. Since 1988 she has been working as a full-time pedagogue at the community college in Giessen.

Political activities

Dietlind Grabe-Bolz has been a member of the SPD since 1976. Since then she has been active in various activities and functions with the Young Socialists , the Juso university group, the SPD local association Gießen-Süd and the SPD city association, among other things she was Juso subdistrict chairwoman and press spokeswoman in the local association Gießen-Süd. In addition, Grabe-Bolz has been a board member of the SPD sub-district since 2006.

Since 1994 she has been a city councilor in the SPD parliamentary group of the Giessen city council meeting with various priorities and tasks. She was deputy group leader and education policy spokeswoman. She is currently a member of the supervisory board of the Stadttheater , the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Gießen , the advisory board of the music school and the advisory board for naming streets and squares. Grabe-Bolz has been parliamentary group leader since 2004. In October 2008, with more than 97 percent of the votes cast, she was chosen as the SPD candidate for the direct election of Giessen mayor on June 7, 2009.

On June 7th, 2009 Dietlind Grabe-Bolz was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Gießen with 55.5 percent of the vote. Your opposing candidate and previous incumbent Heinz-Peter Haumann (CDU) lost with 44.5 percent of the vote. Haumann's term of office ended on December 12, 2009. In the direct election on June 14, 2015, Dietlind Grabe-Bolz was confirmed in office with 53.6% of the votes against three opposing candidates in the first ballot. The turnout was 30.4%.

Private life

Dietlind Grabe-Bolz is married to the dentist Ulrich Bolz and has two adult daughters.
