Manfred Probst

Manfred Probst SAC (born December 13, 1939 in Ediger ) is a German theologian .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1960 at the Rheinbach municipal high school , he became a member of the Pallottines in 1962 . During and after his doctorate in 1973 as Dr. theol. at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , he was a research assistant there from 1972 to 1974 . After his habilitation in 1979 in liturgical science at the theological faculty of Trier , he became professor of liturgical science at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar , which he was rector (1980–1984, 1986–1992) andVice-Rector (1992–1998). As a board member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Ordenshochschulen (AGO) (1976–2001) he was secretary, chairman and treasurer. From 1986 to 2001 he was an advisor to the liturgy commission of the German Bishops' Conference . In the Richard Henkes case , he was postulator from 2001 to 2007 and vice postulator from 2007 to 2010.

His main research interests are liturgical reforms during the Enlightenment and rites and rite books of the Catholic Church in the past and present.
