Manfred Wöhlcke von Glehn (born November 15, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German sociologist , author and visual artist .

Life

Wöhlcke von Glehn was born in Berlin, grew up in Brazil , graduated from high school in Germany and served in the German Navy up to the rank of lieutenant at sea .

From 1964 to 1966 he studied sociology , political science and Romance studies at Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel . In 1967 he studied at the University of São Paulo and received his doctorate. phil. with a dissertation on religious change and interethnic marginality at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen (1969). In 1979 he completed his habilitation with a study on the theory of dependent development at the Free University of Berlin . He was a scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the German Research Foundation . He began his professional career as a research assistant at the Institute for Ibero America Customers in Hamburg and as a consultant for global issues at the Science and Politics Foundation . He then headed a research project financed by the Thyssen Foundation in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Population Research .
