Manfred Wurm

Manfred Wurm (* 24. December 1949 in St. Georgen am Reith ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and district director in 23. Viennese district Liesing .

Professional and academic career

Manfred Wurm completed his school education first at the music and pedagogical federal high school Kundmanngasse in Vienna- Landstrasse and then attended the Federal Pedagogical Academy in Vienna. In 1971 he passed the teaching examination for elementary schools and then worked until 1980 as a teacher at the secondary school in Vienna-Liesing, Inzersdorf and at the integrated comprehensive school in Vienna-Liesing, Atzgersdorf. In addition, Wurm worked as an area advisor for Kinderfreunde and completed his training as a secondary school teacher. In 1978 he passed the teaching examination for secondary schools in German as well as geography and economics and served the military service between 1980 and 1981. In 1995 he passed the service examination for the general administrative service of the City of Vienna.

Political career

In addition to his work for Kinderfreunde, Manfred Wurm worked as a secretary in the central secretariat of the SPÖ between 1980 and 1983, where his work included the competencies in organizational issues, party conferences, elections and contacts with the Federation of Social Democratic Parties in the EC . After that, Wurm worked as district secretary of the SPÖ Liesing and club chairman of the SPÖ district fraction Liesing until 1988. In 1988 he became a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council and from 1990 also worked as a consultant for the Austrian Association of Cities . In 1995, Wurm resigned from his functions in the state parliament and municipal council as well as in the association of cities and was elected as the successor to Johann Wimmer as district chairman of Vienna-Liesing on September 21, 1995 . On September 20, 2012, he was replaced in this role by his successor, Gerald Bischof . On October 1, 2012, Manfred Wurm retired after 17 years in office.
