The Tauberland is a natural area of the Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten (main unit 12) in the south-west of Germany . It leads the No. 129 in the systematics of the manual of the natural spatial structure of Germany .

It includes the landscape around the Tauber and is bordered by the Mainfränkische Platten in the north and east, the Kocher-Jagst plains in the south, the building land in the west and the sandstone Spessart in the north-west.

The limestone heights of the Tauberland are only slightly covered by loess . These plateaus, severely broken up by the Tauber and their tributaries, drop from east to west. The eastern Tauberland is a heavily broken shell limestone landscape with loess clay cover, which has good conditions for arable farming. The slopes of the Taubertal are suitable for fruit growing and viticulture due to the long hours of sunshine. In the summer months, drought and above-average warmth are characteristic, the Tauberland is one of the sunniest, driest and most warm areas of Baden-Württemberg. The average annual temperature is 8.0 ° C, the annual precipitation is between 570 and 750 mm.
