The Messelhausen plateau is part of the Tauberland natural area in Baden-Württemberg , in the area of ​​which the eponymous town of Messelhausen is located. The Messelhausen plateau is a natural sub-unit No. 129.41 of the main unit group Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten, one of four sub- subdivision units of the Tauberberg unit (No. 129.4) in the second decimal place. The other subdivision units of the Tauberberg are the Unterbalbach-Röttinger Riedel (no.129.40), the Großrinderfelder area (no.129.42) and the Werbach-Böttigheimer valley (no.129.43).
