The Mangart (Italian Mangàrt ) ( 2677  m ) is the fourth highest and one of the most characteristic peaks of the Julian Alps . It lies on the border between Slovenia and Italy . The Mangartstrasse , which branches off from the Predil Passstrasse , leads to the car park on the west side of the mountain . From the top you have a beautiful view of the highest mountain in Slovenia , the Triglav .

The bold but well-secured Via Italiana via ferrata on the north face owes its existence to the demarcation of the border after 1945. The Mangart is easy to climb via the normal route, secured with a few wire ropes, for experienced mountaineers.
