Manhunt Backwoods Massacre (Original title: Rovdyr ) is a Norwegian horror thriller from 2008 .

action

The four friends Camilla, Roger, Jørgen and Mia are driving their VW bus through the forests of Norway in 1974 to get to a hiking trail. At a remote gas station with a bistro, they meet local backwoodsmen with whom there is a conflict. However, there is no fight because the authoritarian landlady whistles back to one of the backwoodsmen. The two couples get to know the young, scared Renate in the bistro, who asks to be allowed to go along for a while. When they stop after a short drive because Renate vomits, they are suddenly attacked by three men who kill Renate and Mia and knock the rest of them unconscious. When the three come to, they are tied up in the deepest forest. They manage to get rid of their shackles, but after they have freed a strange, injured man who was tied to a tree, they are suddenly chased by the unknown men. During the subsequent escape through the woods, the injured man, Roger and Jørgen are brutally murdered. Camilla, on the other hand, manages to kill three of the hunters and injure a fourth before she reaches a street and is rescued. Whether she is ultimately safe remains to be seen, since the woman - it is the landlady from the bistro - who "saves" her is in contact with the murderers.

criticism

On www.kino-zeit.de Renatus Töpke praises the first-class washed-out 70s look of the film. The director would play well with the set pieces of the genre and he made the most of the low budget. The actors would mostly act authentically and believably and genre fans would get their money's worth.
