Mansilla + Tuñón Architects is a Spanish architectural office of the architects Emilio Tuñón Álvarez and Luis Moreno Mansilla from Madrid. Her work was awarded the gold medal for "Merit in the Fine Arts" (span: Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes) by the Council of Ministers of the Spanish government in 2014.
Mansilla + Tuñón
Luis Moreno Mansilla and Emilio Tuñón Álvarez founded Mansilla + Tuñón Architekten in 1992 .
In 1993, Luis Mansilla and Emilio Tuñón, together with Luis Rojo, founded the platform for the exchange of ideas, CIRCO, under whose name they regularly publish texts.
Emilio Tuñón Álvarez
Emilio Tuñón (* 1958) completed his architectural training at the Technical College of Architecture in Madrid (ETSAM) in 1981. In 2000 he also obtained his doctorate (cum laude) from ETSAM. From 1981 to 1992 he worked on various projects in the office of the Spanish architect Rafael Moneo . In 1992 he founded the office Mansilla + Tuñón Architects together with Luis Mansilla .
Luis Moreno Mansilla
Luis Moreno Mansilla (1959–2012) graduated from the Technical College of Architecture in Madrid (ETSAM) in 1982. In 1998 he also obtained his doctorate from ETSAM. His doctoral thesis was awarded the Polytechnic University Prize for exceptional doctoral theses.
In 1982 he received a scholarship from the Academy of Fine Arts of Spain for a two-year postgraduate course in Rome, Italy. In 1985 he received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute at the Architecture Museum in Stockholm to research the trips of the two Swedish architects Asplund and Lewerentz. He then worked in the office of the Spanish architect Rafael Moneo until 1992 . In 1992 he founded the office Mansilla + Tuñón Architects together with Emilio Tuñón .
Teaching
Emilio Tuñón and Luis Mansilla have been Senior Professors in the Chair of Design and Architectural Projects at the Technical College of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) since 1986. You held various professorships at different universities. Among others at the Princeton University School of Architecture, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne , Architecture School of the University of Navarra , University of CEU San Pablo, New Architecture School of Puerto Rico , Städelschule in Frankfurt .
