Manuel Hilario de Céspedes y García Menocal (born March 11, 1944 in Havana ) is Bishop of Matanzas .

Life

Manuel Hilario de Céspedes y García Menocal was ordained a priest on May 21, 1972 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Matanzas on May 7, 2005, and he was instituted on June 11 of the same year. He received his episcopal ordination on June 4th of the same year by the Bishop of Pinar del Río , José Siro González Bacallao ; Co- consecrators were Pedro Claro Meurice Estiu , Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba , and Jaime Lucas Cardinal Ortega y Alamino , Archbishop of San Cristóbal de la Habana .

The theologian and writer Carlos Manuel de Céspedes García-Menocal was his older brother. Both are great-great-grandsons of the freedom fighter in the First War of Independence and founder of the Cuban nation, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes .
