Manuela Mahnke (born February 17, 1965 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Bremen Parliament from 2007 to 2015 and has been the mayor of the Nottuln municipality since 2015 .

biography

Family, education and work

Mahnke attended grammar school up to the 12th grade and graduated with a technical college entrance qualification. This was followed by an apprenticeship as a hotel manager and then attending the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in Hildesheim, which she graduated with a degree in business administration (FH) .

From January 1, 1991 to December 31, 1998, she was a soldier in the Bundeswehr medical service . She has the rank of lieutenant captain d.R. From July 1st, 2000 to June 30th, 2003 she was administrative manager at the DRK - Disability Aid in Debstedt and since July 1st, 2003 she has been the department head for student affairs at the Hochschule Bremerhaven . The employment relationship was suspended for the duration of membership in the citizenry due to the Bremen Parliamentary Representatives Act. She has been the mayor of Nottuln since 2015.

She is divorced and has one child.

Mahnke has been a member of the SPD since 2002 and was chairwoman of the Lehe local association for her party .

From the 2007 election to 2015, she was a member of the Bremen Parliament (Landtag). She was parliamentary group spokeswoman for federal and European affairs, international contacts and development cooperation. She was u. a. active in the committee for federal and European affairs, international contacts and development cooperation (deputy chairwoman), board of the Bremen citizenship, committee for equality of women (member), and in the electoral examination court.

She has been a member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe since 2012 .

On September 13, 2015 she won the mayoral election in Nottuln with 52.7% and became mayor of the municipality with effect from October 21, 2015. As of October 21, 2015, she renounced her citizenship mandate.

On May 26, 2019, Mahnke ran for the mayor's office in the integrated municipality of Apensen and lost the election against the local candidate Petra Beckmann-Frelock . On June 23, 2020 she announced that she would run again for Mayor of Nottuln on September 13, 2020. Meanwhile, the SPD, of which it is a member, announced that it would not make any recommendations for a candidate for mayor in the local elections.

Volunteering

  • Mahnke had been the first state chairwoman of the reservists' association nationwide since summer 2014.
