Maqsood Ahmed (born August 30, 1957 in Peshawar ) is a former Pakistani squash player .

Career

Maqsood Ahmed was active as a squash player between 1976 and 1985 and in April 1980 he reached fourth place, his highest ranking in the world rankings.

With the Pakistani national team he took part in the World Cup in 1976 , 1977 , 1981 , 1983 and 1991 . In 1977, 1981 and 1983 he became world champion. Maqsood Ahmed remained victorious in both finals: in 1981 he defeated his opponent Greg Pollard in three sets in the final against Australia , and two years later he was also victorious against England in his game against Phil Kenyon .

From 1977 to 1988 he was eleven times in the main field of the individual world championship. His best performance was reaching the semi-finals in 1979 and 1984 . At the Asian Championships he was in 1984 against Qamar Zaman in the final of the individual competition. While he lost the game against Zaman, he won the team competition with him, among others.

His older brother Mohammad Saleem was also a squash player and, like Ahmed, was part of the 1977 world championship team.
