Marc Garnier

Marc Garnier (born July 14, 1947 ) is a French organ builder . He comes from an old Alsatian family.

Life

Marc Garnier studied after attending a technical high school at the State Technical University in Belfort . From 1965 to 1969 he did an apprenticeship in Strasbourg with the organ builder Kurt Schwenkedel. He then continued his education in Hamburg with Rudolf von Beckerath . He learned harpsichord making from Rainer Schütze in Heidelberg .

Garnier's organ building workshop employs seven people and has been in Les Fins since 1972 . Organ building contracts took him to Strasbourg, northern and southern Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Jordan and the USA. In Japan in 1991 he built a large rotating concert organ with two wings in the Grand Hall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theater with a total of 126 registers and over 9,000 pipes , which is considered to be one of the most important organs in the country.
