Marcel Brawand

Marcel Brawand (born September 7, 1907 in Yverdon , † December 1, 1991 in Aubagne , reformed , resident in Grindelwald and Vevey ) was a Swiss politician (SP) .

Life

Marcel Brawand was born on September 7, 1907 in Yverdon as the son of the clock stone maker Karl Brawand and the Anna-born Schmid. Brawand initially received an apprenticeship in Paris , after various jobs he earned a diploma as a hairdresser . He also joined the French Socialist Party .

After returning to Switzerland, Brawand joined the SP in 1926. From 1929 to 1934 he was a member of the city parliament, from 1934 to 1936 until Vevey was placed under cantonal administration, and from 1946 to 1969 of the city government of Vevey. In addition, Brawand was represented in the Vaudois Grand Council from 1933 to 1959 , which he presided over as the first socialist in 1946. In addition, he sat on the National Council between 1958 and 1959 and 1962 and 1971 . From 1963 to 1966, Brawand presided over the Vaudois SP.

Also was Brawand from 1947 as Secretary of the Trade Union Confederation of Vevey and as a French-speaking secretary of the Association of clothing, leather and equipment workers of Switzerland, shortly VBLA, active. Marcel Brawand, who was married to Madeleine nee Lamy, died on December 1, 1991 at the age of 84 in Aubagne in Provence .
