Marcelo Saralegui , full name Marcelo Saralegui Arregín , (born May 18, 1971 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.

The 1.72 meter tall midfielder Saralegui belonged to the team Nacional Montevideos at the beginning of his career from 1988 to mid-1991 . During that period, he played 26 games in the Primera División and scored two goals. The "Bolsos" won both the Copa Libertadores and the World Cup in this phase in 1988 . In 1989 they won the Copa Interamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana . He then worked for Atlético Madrid's second agency until the end of 1991 . After returning to Nacional, he was in the Montevidean squad in the first half of the year and was used in eleven first division games (two goals). The team was Uruguayan champions at the end of the season. Saralegui left the club during the year and moved to Turin . With the Italians, he completed only two league encounters (no goal). In the 1992/93 season, his club, at which his compatriot Carlos Aguilera also played, won the Coppa Italia . In July 1994 the Racing Club signed him . For the Argentines he played in 33 games in the Primera División and scored five times in the opposing goal. The next employer from mid-1995 to mid-1999 was CA Colón . His usage statistics at the club from Santa Fe show 29 goals in 105 league appearances. Subsequently, Saralegui continued his career until 2000 at CA Independiente and was used in 14 first division games (one goal). In the first half of 2000 he was also listed as a career station at Defensor Sporting . From July 2000 to the end of the year he played again for the Racing Club from Avellaneda and was used in twelve other first division games (no goal). Another one and a half year engagement at Nacional Montevideo followed. There he won the Uruguayan championship with the team in 2001. After a total of twelve more missions (one goal) in the top Uruguayan league, he joined Centro Atlético Fénix in July 2002 to the end of 2003 . He has 16 first division appearances and two hits for him. The last career station in 2004 was the second division Uruguay Montevideo FC for Saralegui. Appearances in the Segunda División are not recorded for him. Other sources, however, list three games with his involvement.
National team
Saralegui he was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection that participated in the U-20 South American Championship in 1988 .
On June 21, 1992 he then made his debut in the 2-0 home win in the friendly international game against the Australian national team in the Uruguayan senior team when he was ordered by coach Luis Alberto Cubilla in the starting line-up. In the following years he completed a total of 33 international matches, in which he scored six goals. At the Copa America 1993 , Saralegui was part of the Uruguayan squad and was used four times during the tournament. He scored two hits. Uruguay were eliminated in the quarterfinals. He was also nominated for the Copa America in 1995 and contributed to the tournament victory with four appearances (one goal) in the ranks of the Uruguayan team. At the 1997 Copa America , Saralegui was also a member of the Uruguayan squad and played three tournament games (one goal). His last international appearance in the "Celeste" dated November 16, 1997, when he ran under national coach Roque Máspoli in the 5-3 home win against the selection of Ecuador .

Coaching
Saralegui struck a coaching career after the active career. In September 2006 he took up a coaching position at Club Sportivo Cerrito and worked in this position until mid-March of the following year. From February 2010 to the beginning of May 2010 he was again in this position with the Montevideans. From April 2014 to January 2015 he was the head coach of the Rampla Juniors . In August 2016 he took over the training management at Club Atlético Colegiales . The engagement with the Argentines ended in September 2016.
