Marco Antonio Cortez Lara (born December 10, 1957 in Chiclayo , Peru ) is Bishop of Tacna y Moquegua in Peru.

Life

Marco Antonio Cortez Lara is the youngest of ten children of the couple Gerardo Cortez Cáceres and María Teresa Lara. He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the diocesan seminary "Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo". He holds a degree in social sciences from the University of Navarre and a PhD in moral theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross . Cortez Lara was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Chiclayo on February 3, 1985 in Lima by John Paul II during his visit to Peru .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 18, 2005 as coadjutor bishop in the diocese of Tacna y Moquegua , based in Tacna . The episcopal ordination on May 4, 2005 donated him the Bishop of Tacna, José Hugo Garaycoa Hawkins ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Rino Passigato , Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, and Jesús Moliné Labarte , Bishop of Chiclayo.
