Rino Passigato (born March 29, 1944 in Bovolone , Province of Verona , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman, emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Rino Passigato received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Verona on June 29, 1968 .

On 16 December 1991 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Nova Caesaris and ordered him to the apostolic nuncio in Burundi . He was ordained bishop on January 6, 1992 by John Paul II; Co-consecrators were the official in the Vatican State Secretariat , Archbishop of the Curia Giovanni Battista Re , and the Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop of the Curia Josip Uhač . On March 18, 1996, Rino Passigato became Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia . John Paul II appointed him on July 17, 1999 as Apostolic Nuncio in Peru . On November 8, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal .

On July 4, 2019, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
