Marco Casanova (born June 7, 1976 in Chur ) is a former Swiss ski racer . He almost exclusively drove slalom races , occasionally giant slalom .

biography

Casanova grew up in Obersaxen in the Surselva . He started his career playing in FIS races and in the European Cup . At the Junior World Championships in 1995 in Voss , he won the silver medal in slalom. On December 15, 1997 he started in Sestriere for the first time in a World Cup race .

Casanova scored the first World Cup points on January 18, 1998 as 18th in the Veysonnaz slalom . In the same year he also took part in the Winter Olympics in Nagano , where he could not classify. He achieved the best World Cup result on March 13, 1999 in the Sierra Nevada when he finished third in the slalom. In the following years Casanova established himself in midfield, but only once managed to place in the top ten. At the end of the 2003/04 season he announced his retirement from top-class sport.
