Marco Langner (born May 8, 1969 in Würzburg ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and today's goalkeeping coach.

Career

Marco Langner played for SC Pfullendorf until 1993 , from where he joined the Stuttgarter Kickers in 1993 . After two years with Kickers, the goalkeeper moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim from the 2nd Bundesliga . After two years in Mannheim his last and at the same time longest professional station followed, the SSV Reutlingen 05 , to which he remained loyal for a total of 10 years and remained the undisputed regular goalkeeper for almost the entire time. In the meantime, he also held the position of goalkeeping coach there until he was replaced by the Swiss Andreas Kronenberg in 2007 .

In 2007 Langner ended his career and became goalkeeping coach at SC Freiburg at the suggestion of Robin Dutt . In 2009 they became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga with SC. As early as March 2011 it was announced that Langner would move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen with Dutt and assistant coach Damir Burić after the 2010/11 season . The contracts of the coaching staff at Leverkusen were already terminated during the 2011/12 season . When Robin Dutt succeeded Thomas Schaaf at Werder Bremen as head coach for the 2013/14 season, he took his assistant coaches Burić and Langner with him to the Hanseatic city. Together with Dutt and Burić, he was released in autumn 2014 after 9 games without a win in the 2014/15 season. In November 2015 he became the new goalkeeping coach at VfB Stuttgart and worked in this position until the end of the 2018/19 season.
