Marco Tornese (* 20th May 1984 in Herisau ) is a Swiss model , LGBT - activists and "Mr. Gay Switzerland ».

Life

Marco Tornese grew up bilingual in his native Herisau . His father is Italian , his mother Swiss. At the age of 25 he moved to Gossau SG . Tornese now works as a team leader at a large Swiss banking group, where he has been employed continuously since the mid-2000s. From 2015 he lived in French-speaking Switzerland , in Lausanne ; he now lives in Dietikon , Canton Zurich . He was with the former "Mr. Gay Switzerland », Stephan Bitterlin , in a relationship; the couple separated in September 2016. After leaving Prince Charming , he began a relationship with fellow candidate Sebastian Hollmann, which ended in January 2020.

Career

In September / October 2016, he played the role of the gay Ben in a play by the theater association “SUWE productions” at several locations in Switzerland ( Lucerne , Zurich , St. Gallen , Basel , Dornbirn ) in the play “Wintermond” homophobic flatmate Alex is humiliated.

He has been Mr. Gay Switzerland since March 2017. In May 2017 he was voted into the top 5 in the Mr. Gay World election (Spain). The " Mr. Gay World " competition was launched in 2009 and is an event comparable to the Miss World , Mr. World and Mr. Universe competitions. The competition is not just a beauty choice; all participants are judged in many different categories. Tornese, who came 4th in the "Mr. Gay World »was the most successful Swiss participant. He is also the first Swiss to receive the honorary title of “Mr. Gay Universe »(Prague, September 16, 2017).

During his tenure, Tornese decided to work towards greater acceptance within the community and to represent the LGBT community as a role model. He also supports the legal equality of homosexuals in Switzerland. In 2017, Marco Tornese was invited to many events in Europe to represent Switzerland (including Arosa Gay Skiweek, Kings of Fashion). In September 2017 he was invited as a jury guest to the Mr. Gay election (“Gayman 2017”) in Prague and received the honorary award “Mr. Gay Universe 2017 », which goes to a Mister every year who works intensively for the community.

He is regularly booked as a model for body painting events, music clips and pole acrobatics shows and is a guest at events.

In November 2017 his picture calendar appeared, with which he supports the LGBT organization “GLL - Same-sex love life”. In 2018 Marco Tornese became a brand ambassador for the fashion brand “Dragons Chain” from Munich . He supported the first Gay Pride of the Canton of Ticino , which took place in Lugano at the end of May 2018 .

In 2019 Tornese took part in various music clips, e.g. B. with DJane Tanja La Croix , Julian FM Stoeckel and Diamá . In autumn 2019, Marco Tornese was the only Swiss candidate to take part in Germany's first gay dating reality TV show, “ Prince Charming ”.
