Marcos Paulo , with full name Marcos Paulo Costa do Nascimento (born February 1, 2001 in São Gonçalo ), is a Brazilian - Portuguese soccer player who is under contract with the Brazilian first division club Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . He plays in the club and in the Portuguese U-20 national team in the position of striker .

Career

Marcos Paulo comes from the youth team Fluminense Rio de Janeiro and was promoted to the first team for the 2019 season . He made his debut on January 30th in a 4-0 home win in the Campeonato Carioca against Madureira EC . He scored his first two goals on July 31 in a 3-1 away win against CA Peñarol in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 . In the league , he met for the first time in the 1-1 draw against Chapecoense on October 27, 2019 (28th matchday). He ended the game year with four goals and four assists in 24 league games.

National team

Due to his Portuguese grandfather, Marcos Paulo has both Brazilian and Portuguese citizenship and can therefore play for both national teams. While still in action for the U-20 team Fluminenses, he was nominated for the Portuguese U-19 national team in October 2018 and made his debut for this selection on October 14 in a friendly against Montenegro .

In April 2019 he was in action for the U18 . On April 19, 2019, he scored a goal in a 3-1 win in a friendly international match against Mexico .
