Marcus Stock (born August 27, 1961 in London ) is an English clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Leeds .

Life

Marcus Stock studied Catholic theology at Oxford and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he received a degree in dogmatics . On June 13, 1988 he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Birmingham . After various tasks in the pastoral care of the past, he was mainly active in the Catholic education system of the Archdiocese of Birmingham from 1999.

In 2009 he became general secretary of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales . Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the honorary title of Pontifical Honorary Prelate on December 29, 2011 .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Leeds on September 15, 2014 . The Archbishop of Westminster , Vincent Gerard Cardinal Nichols , donated him episcopal ordination on November 13 of that year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley , and his predecessor, Archbishop Arthur Roche , Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments .
