The Mare Frisium is a three-masted stop sail schooner ( Rahschoner ).
history
The ship was launched in 1916 as a logger under the Dutch flag under the name Petronella . As usual with the loggers, it was originally rigged with 2 masts as a gaff ketch . The ship was mainly used on the Dogger Bank . In the late 1940s she was converted into a freighter, then dismasted and converted into a coaster. In the process, it was extended considerably from its original 30 m to its current length. At times she operated between Sweden and Germany under the name Helmut . In 1993 she was redesigned as a three-masted marsail schooner and has served as a passenger sailor under her current name Mare Frisium since 1995 .
