Maren Günter (born July 27, 1976 in Baiersbronn ) is a former German ski racer . She became German champion in giant slalom in 1999 and won the silver medal in combination at the 1995 World Junior Championships .

Career

Günter achieved his first major successes at the Junior World Championships in 1995 in Voss, Norway . With fifth place in the downhill, sixth place in slalom and ninth place in giant slalom, she won the silver medal in the combination behind the Swiss Marlies Oester .

Günter started in the World Cup in January 1996 . But since she didn't score in any of her races or reached the second round, she was used again exclusively in the European Cup from January 1997 . In the 1998/99 season she achieved eighth place in the slalom and giant slalom rankings with a total of five top 10 placements, and thus her best overall results in the European Cup. In March 1999 she became German champion in giant slalom ahead of Annemarie Gerg and Hilde Gerg and runner-up in super-G behind Regina Häusl . A year later she became German runner-up in giant slalom behind Ertl .

From January 1999 until the end of the 1999/2000 season, Günter started again in the World Cup in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom, but was still unable to qualify for the second round in any race. After the 2000/01 season, in which she was no longer in the points in the European Cup, Günter ended her career.
