Maren Ulvestad Haugstuen (born April 6, 1989 in Bærum ) is a Norwegian telemarker .

Career

Haugstuen grew up in Asker and starts for the Haga Hogget Låmlag association. On January 20, 2007, she made her debut in the Telemark World Cup . In her first season in the World Cup, she reached the top 10 at two World Cup stations and 11th place once. In the overall World Cup ranking she then took 11th place, 10th in the Classic Sprint, 13th in the Classic and 14th in the giant slalom.

At the Telemark Junior World Championships 2007 in Thyon Haugstuen won the bronze medal in the Classic Sprint and Classic. She finished the giant slalom in the unpopular fourth place. At the Telemark World Championships 2007 she reached 12th place in the giant slalom and the Classic and eighth place in the Classic Sprint. A season later she was only seen at the home World Cup race in Rjukan . There she reached fifth place twice in the Classic Sprint race. In the overall standings she finished 17th at the end of the season and 15th in the Classic Sprint.

In the 2009 season she only played the last two World Cups in Rjukan and Bjorli , where she finished between eleventh and seventh place. She improved from 17th to 15th in the overall standings last season, which was also 15th in the Classic Sprint. In the Classic she came in 16th place. Again, the junior and world championships took place together in 2009 in Kreischberg .

Haugstuen won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the Telemark Junior World Championships in 2009 , and the silver medal in the Classic and Classic Sprint. At the Telemark World Championships in 2009 she came tenth twice in the Classic and Classic Sprint and was eighth in the giant slalom. In the 2010 season she took part in all World Cup stations for the first time and made it into the top 10 several times. She finished third in the Classic Sprint race in Steamboat Springs , her first podium in her career. In the end, Haugstuen finished seventh in the overall World Cup ranking, eighth in the Classic, sixth in the Classic Sprint and ninth in the giant slalom.

Right at the start of the 2011 season, she finished eighth twice in the Classic Sprint race at the World Cup in Rauris . The remaining results ranged between places ten and 16. In the overall World Cup ranking she came in 13th place, in Classic on 22nd place, in Classic Sprint on 13th place and in Giant Slalom on twelfth place. At the 2011 Telemark World Championships she came in 14th place in the giant slalom, eleventh place in the Classic, and tenth in the Classic Sprint, making her ninth place overall.

Right at the beginning of the 2012 season, she finished third and fourth in the FIS race in Geilo . The following World Cup season in 2012 was mixed, however, her best result of the season she achieved in Espot with a fifth place in the parallel sprint. She took ninth place in the overall standings as well as in the Classic, tenth place in the Classic Sprint and eleventh place in the parallel sprint.
