Margarete Arnhold

Margarete Arnhold née Bode (born April 29, 1912 in Hanover ; † November 10, 2003 in Jena ) was a German functionary and politician of the GDR block party LDPD . She was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Arnhold, daughter of a civil servant family, studied from 1931 to 1936 at the Universities of Göttingen , Vienna , Geneva and Marburg . In 1936 she passed the state examination in history and French, and in 1939 the state examination in pedagogy. She taught in Alfeld in 1939 , in Lehrte in 1940 and in Gera in 1941/42 . After the war she worked as a teacher, school councilor and director at the Grete-Unrein-Oberschule in Jena . In 1960 she became a senior teacher.

In 1946 Arnhold joined the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP, later LDPD) and initially held numerous honorary functions in the party. From 1953 she was district chairman of the LDPD in Jena and a member of the Gera district committee . From December 1949 to 1952 she was a member of the Thuringian state parliament . In September 1951 she became Vice President of the State Parliament. After the districts were formed in 1952, she was a member of the Gera district assembly until 1963 . From 1961 she was chairwoman of the commission for popular education.

From 1947 a member of the Democratic Women's Association of Germany , she was a member of its federal executive committee from 1952 to 1954.

Arnhold was in the fourth and fifth electoral terms (1963-1971) as a member of the LDPD parliamentary group, a member of the People's Chamber. In both terms she was a member of the Committee for Popular Education.
