Margarete Braungart

Margarete Braungart (born March 27, 1947 in Grimmelshausen ; † November 10, 1998 ) was a German museologist and author. She was director of the Hildburghausen City Museum .

Life

After attending the Anne Frank School in Themar , she passed the Abitur in 1965 at the "Max Greil" Extended High School in Schleusingen . After that she worked as a commercial advertiser in the folk book trade until 1976. She then worked as a museum assistant in the Agricultural History Museum Kloster Veßra for the Suhl district, which was then being set up under the direction of Günther Wölfing . As part of a distance learning course at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , she graduated as a museologist and, at the age of 32, took over the management of the Hildburghausen City Museum in 1979, which she ran until her death.

In 1994 she received the special award from the Bavarian People's Foundation for creating connections between Thuringia and Bavaria. After her death, the city of Hildburghausen donated the Margarete Braungart Prize for art and literature.
