Princess Margaretha of Denmark , full name Margaretha Françoise Louise Marie Helene of Denmark (born  September 17, 1895 at Bernstorff Castle on the island of Zealand , † September 18, 1992 in Copenhagen ) was a member of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and was by marriage to a princess of Bourbon-Parma .

Life

Margaretha was the only daughter of five children of the admiral of the Danish fleet, Prince Waldemar of Denmark (1858-1939), and his wife, the French princess Marie Amélie Françoise Hélène (1865-1909), the eldest daughter of Robert d'Orléans, duc de Chartres and Françoise d'Orléans. The paternal grandparents were the Danish King Christian IX. and his wife, Louise von Hessen .

On June 9, 1921, Princess Margaretha married Prince René Karl Maria Joseph von Bourbon-Parma (1894–1962), a son of the last Duke of Parma , Piacenza and Guastalla , Robert I , and his second wife Infanta Maria Antonia of Portugal in Copenhagen .
