Margarita Borisovna Terekhova
Margarita Borisovna Terechowa ( Russian Маргарита Борисовна Терехова ; born August 25, 1942 in Turinsk , Sverdlovsk Oblast ) is a Russian actress.
Life
Terechowa initially studied from 1959 to 1961 at Tashkent University. She then applied to the WGIK in Moscow , but was rejected. Instead, she studied acting with Yuri Zavadsky at the studio of the Mossoviet Theater ( Театр имени Моссовета ) and has been part of the ensemble on this stage since 1964. During her studies, she played Cleopatra in George Bernard Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra in 1964 . Her numerous later theater roles included Gertrud in Shakespeare's Hamlet and Marie in the dramatization of Heinrich Böll's Views of a Clown (1968).
In 1965 she played her first film role in Frunze Dowlatjans Sdrawstwui, eto ja! ( Здравствуй, это я! ) This was followed by leading roles in films by directors such as Andrei Smirnow ( Belorussischer Bahnhof , 1970) and Ilja Averbach ( Monolog , 1972), as well as a highly acclaimed double role in Andrei Tarkowski's Der Spiegel (1975). There was also work in international co-productions such as George Cukor's Der Blaue Vogel (1976) and Konrad Wolfs Mama, ich lebe (1977).
She was also popular in the Soviet Union through her roles on television, including Mascha in Mein Leben (1972) after Anton Chekhov , Countess Diana in The Dog in the Hay (1977) and Milady de Winter in D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers (1978).
As a director at the Mossoviet Theater, she staged Lorcas Once Five Years Go by and Alexander Ostrowski's The Guiltless Guilty ( Без вины виноватые ). In 2005 she directed a film adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull ( Чайка ).
For her leading role in the Estonian film Ainult hulludele ehk Halastajaõde , Terechowa received actor awards at the film festivals of Sanremo (1991), Rouen (1992) and Bruges (1993). In 1976 she was honored as an Honored Artist of the RSFSR , and in 1996 as a People's Artist of the Russian Federation .
