Margarita Nikolaevna Nikolaeva

Margarita Nikolajewna Nikolajewa ( Russian Маргарита Николаевна Николаева ; born September 23, 1935 in Ivanovo , † December 21, 1993 in Odessa , Ukraine ) was a Soviet gymnast .

Nikolayeva won the gold medal at the 1960 Olympic Games with the Soviet women's squad consisting of Polina Astachowa , Lidija Ivanova , Larissa Latynina , Tamara Lyuchina , Sofia Muratova and Margarita Nikolajewa. In the individual final of the all-around event, Latynina won ahead of Muratova and Astachowa; as the fourth-best gymnast in the Soviet squad, Margarita Nikolajewa also took fourth place in the all-around event. In addition, she reached two individual finals. On the balance beam she also took fourth place and on the jump she won with almost 0.3 points ahead of Muratowa and Latynina.

The 1.59 m tall Margarita Nikolajewa started for VS Odessa .
