Margot Shumway

Margot Shumway (born August 2, 1979 in Cincinnati ) is a former rower from the United States, who twice reached a final at the Olympic Games.

Athletic career

1.80 m tall Margot Shumway began rowing in 2001. At the 2005 World Championships in Gifu , the quadruple with Kelly Salchow , Margot Shumway, Caryn Davies and Anna Mickelson finished fifth. Shumway did not return to the national team until 2008. At the World Cup in Lucerne, Lia Pernell , Lindsay Meyer , Jennifer Kaido and Margot Shumway finished second behind the Chinese four-four, three seconds behind. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, the Chinese won ahead of the British and the Germans, the double foursome from the United States came in fifth, almost ten seconds behind the Chinese.

In 2009 Margot Shumway competed in the single and took 13th place at the World Championships in Poznan . In 2010 she competed in the World Cup in both double sculls and double sculls. At the World Championships on Lake Karapiro , the quadruple with Margot Shumway, Sarah Trowbridge , Megan Kalmoe and Natalie Dell finished fifth. In 2012, the double scull with Margot Shumway and Sarah Trowbridge qualified for the Olympic Games in Lucerne. At the Olympic regatta in Eton , the two reached the finals and took sixth place.
