Margrit Beran Krewson
Margrit Beran Krewson , also Margrit B. Krewson née Margrit Beran (born March 31, 1936 in Hamburg , † November 6, 2014 in Washington, DC ) was an American librarian and German scholar.
Life
Margrit Beran first studied German at the University of Heidelberg and then at George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she obtained an MA. Margrit Beran Krewson worked for thirty years at the Library of Congress in Washington, and from 1980 until her retirement in 1998 as a German-Dutch expert in the European department. She has produced numerous bibliographic publications and was also invited to give lectures at scientific institutions and to lectures at Harvard University .
After her retirement in 1999 she made yet for the purchase of the Waldseemuller map of 1507 by the Library of Congress, and the Carta Marina of 1516. Beran Krewson has numerous exhibitions curated, so in 1996 the treasures from the Saxon State Library in Dresden , last Book treasures from the German National Library in Leipzig in the New York Grolier Club .
Margrit Beran was married to Charles Fleming Krewson III.
