The Church of the Birth of Mary and St. Johann Baptist is a Catholic church consecrated to the Mother of God in Höchen , a district of Bexbach in the Saar- Palatinate district of Saarland . The patronage is the feast of the birth of Mary on September 8th. In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

history

The original church building was erected between 1800 and 1801. From 1865 to 1866 the church was expanded. The church was given its current appearance and renewed enlargement in 1969 when a concrete extension designed by senior building officer Alois Artzberger ( Speyer ) was added to the existing building .

Furnishing

Next to the chancel there is a lead glass window in a metal frame that is illuminated from the inside . It was built in 1908 and was located as a central window in the right side wall of the nave, which was removed as part of the expansion of the church at the end of the 1960s. The window was removed in 1967 and was subsequently considered lost for 43 years. It was privately owned and was returned by the owner to the Höchener parish in 2010. On the window are u. a. Symbols of the Eucharist depicted: grapes and ears of grain .

Other items of equipment in the interior of the church include: a. several figures of saints , a wooden gothic altar in the apse of the old nave, as well as paintings of the Cross in the annex built in 1969.

organ

The organ of the church was built in 1969 by Hugo Mayer ( Heusweiler ). The organ works are set up on a concrete base around a pillar. The free-standing gaming table is located on a gallery in the old nave.
The slider chests -instrument has 15 registers , spread over two manuals and pedal . The playing and stop action is electric. The disposition is as follows:
