The Catholic Church of the Assumption of Mary in Bachhagel , a municipality in the Bavarian district of Dillingen on the Danube , is a building from the 17th century. The parish church at Kirchplatz 5 is a protected architectural monument .

History and architecture

The core of the building, which dates back to the 15th century, was rebuilt after its collapse in 1658. In 1777 the tower was built according to the plans of the Höchstädter city architect Franz Anton Schönherr. A sacristy closed on three sides is attached to the flat-roofed hall church with a retracted, rectangular choir . On the south side of the nave is the tower with a square floor plan, octagonal structure and a double onion dome .

Furnishing

The ceiling pictures were created in 1906 by Balthasar Lacher. The altars were made around 1850, the side altar paintings are by Karl Keller from 1892.
