María José Gaidano (born March 25, 1973 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine tennis player. From 2014 to 2016 she was team leader of the Argentine Fed Cup team .

Career

Gaidano started playing tennis at the age of five after watching games by the top Argentinian players at the time, José Luis Clerc and Guillermo Vilas .

In 1993 she profited at her first US Open after losing qualification as Lucky Loser from the withdrawal of Mary Joe Fernández , then she was able to advance to the round of 16. She won two WTA tournaments in doubles competition in her career. In 1997 she played for Argentina at the Fed Cup , but had to admit defeat in both parries against Martina Hingis and Patty Schnyder .
