The 113th US Open in 1993 took place from August 30 to September 12, 1993 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York .
The defending champions in the singles were Stefan Edberg for the men and Monica Seles for the women. In the men's doubles it was Jim Grabb and Richey Reneberg , in the ladies doubles Gigi Fernández and Natallja Swerawa , in the mixed doubles Nicole Provis and Mark Woodforde . Not a single title could be defended. Edberg failed in round two and Monica Seles was unable to take part in the tournament after she was assassinated during the year .
In the men's singles , Pete Sampras defeated French Cédric Pioline in the final . It was his second triumph at the US Open and his third of a total of 14 Grand Slam titles. With that he ousted Jim Courier again from the top of the world rankings.
In the women's final , Steffi Graf defeated Helena Suková . It was Graf's third triumph at the US Open and her 15th Grand Slam title.
