Mary Queen of the Apostles (Coppenbrügge)
The Church of Maria Queen of the Apostles was the Catholic church in Coppenbrügge , a town in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony . Most recently it belonged to the parish of St. Joseph , based in Gronau , in the Alfeld-Detfurth dean's office in the Hildesheim diocese . The church was under the Titles of Mary Queen of Apostles named and was in the post 27th
Today, St. Benedikt in Lauenstein, 5 km away, is the closest Catholic church. The premises of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Nicolai Church in Coppenbrügge are now occasionally used by Catholics.
history
From around 1945 Catholic expellees also settled in Coppenbrügge, which has been evangelical since the Reformation . Initially, Catholic services were held in the Protestant church. A church building association was founded to support the construction of a Catholic church in Coppenbrügge. In 1968 the foundation stone was laid for the Church of Mary Queen of the Apostles , and her consecration followed on December 21 of the same year . At first it belonged to the parish of St. Benedikt in Lauenstein, and from November 1st, 2006 to the parish of St. Joseph in Gronau. On June 9, 2012 it was profaned by Bishop Norbert Trelle .
Architecture and equipment
The church was built as a prefabricated church with a bell tower by the diocesan building department, at a height of around 133 meters above sea level . Altar , tabernacle and other furnishings were designed by Hanns Joachim Klug . The crucifix was given a new place in the Protestant Nicolai Church in Coppenbrügge after the profanation.
