Maria Nordström (born May 10, 1991 ) is a Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Nordström, who was successful with a total of five titles at the Junior World Championships in orienteering in 2009 and 2010 , achieved bronze rank with the Swedish relay team in cross-country skiing at the Nordic Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten in 2010 . In February 2012 she achieved her first top 10 result in a Continental Cup race at the Scandinavian Cup in Albu with tenth place in the sprint . In November of the same year, Nordström achieved another top 10 result in a Continental Cup race with ninth place over 10 km freestyle on the US Super Tour in West Yellowstone . In April 2013 she was ninth again in the sprint in Tahoe on the US Super Tour. Nordström made her first appearance in the cross-country skiing world cup in February 2015 in Östersund , where she won her first World Cup point with 30th place in the sprint and 45th place over 10 km freestyle. In the 2016/17 season, she came 27th in the 2016/17 Tour de Ski . In February 2017 she won her first World Cup victory in Pyeongchang together with Elin Mohlin in the team sprint. The following month she was second in the Scandinavian Cup on the mini tour in Madona . In doing so, she clinched her first classic victory in the Scandinavian Cup on the 5 km stage and at the end of the season she reached 41st place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the overall Scandinavian Cup. At the end of March 2017, she became the Swedish team sprint champion together with Hanna Falk .

In the 2019/20 season, Nordström took four top ten finishes, including first place in the 20 km mass start race in Vuokatti , and third place in the overall Scandinavian Cup standings.

Personal

Nordström is the sister of Gustav Nordström , who is also a cross-country skier.
