Marian Buczek (born March 14, 1953 in Cieszanów , Poland ) is a Ukrainian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia .

Life

Marian Buczek was on 16 June 1979 by the then apostolic administrator of Lviv , Bishop Marian Jozef Rechowicz for priests ordained .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Lviv and titular bishop of Febiana on May 4, 2002 . The Archbishop of Lemberg, Cardinal Marian Jaworski , donated him the episcopal ordination on June 20 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine , Nikola Eterović , and Cardinal the Archbishop of Kraków , Stanisław Dziwisz .

On July 16, 2007 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia , and on March 19, 2009 he succeeded Stanisław Padewski OFMCap, who had retired due to old age, as diocesan bishop. He was inducted into his diocese on May 16, 2009 in the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kharkiv.

On April 12, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his early resignation.

He is not to be confused with the communist of the same name († 1939).
