The Diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia ( Latin Dioecesis Kharkiviensis-Zaporizhiensis , Ukrainian Харківсько-Запорізька дієцезія ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in eastern Ukraine . The church district today includes the oblasts of Sumy , Kharkiv , Luhansk , Donetsk , Zaporizhia , Poltava and the eastern part of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast .
history
- 1886 : Foundation of an Apostolic Administration in Kharkiv .
- 1926 : Administrator Wincenty Ilgin is captured by the Soviet authorities and finally expelled in 1933.
- 2002 : The diocese is reestablished by separating it from the Zhytomyr-Kiev and Kamianets-Podilskyi dioceses .
