Marianne Slongo

Marianne Slongo (born June 9, 1948 in Stans ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Marianne Slongo, who works as a building contractor, began her political career as a representative of the CVP when she was elected district administrator for the canton of Nidwalden . Between 1996 and 1998 she was the first woman to be its president.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 1995 , she ran for national councilor , but lost to Edi Engelberger . In 1999, she was elected as the successor to Peter-Josef Schallberger as the representative of the canton of Nidwalden in the Council of States . In 2007 she decided not to run for the Council of States again. His successor as a representative in the Council of States was then Paul Niederberger .

Slongo was also a member of the board of the Swiss Trade Association .

Slongo is married and has three children.
