Marie-France Vouilloz Burnier (* 1957 in Martigny ) is a Swiss historian who primarily examines educational, social and intercultural aspects as well as health and women's history.

Life

Marie-France Vouilloz was born in Martigny in the canton of Valais in 1957 . She studied educational science and psychology at the University of Geneva and received her doctorate in 1993. Since 1988 she has worked at the Office de recherche et de documentation pédagogique in Sion . She was in charge of editing the Valais teachers' magazine Résonance . From 1992 to 2002 she was a lecturer at the École d'études sociales et pédagogiques in Lausanne in the canton of Vaud . She is married and has two daughters.

In her scientific research since 1979 she has mainly examined health policy, the history of motherhood and especially midwifery as well as questions of legal history.

Marie-France Vouilloz Burnier is secretary of the Valais foundation Via Mulieris , which was founded in 2014 to better study the women's history of the canton of Valais. In 2017 she organized the first scientific colloquium on the history of Valais women for this foundation together with the Société d'Histoire du Valais Romand . For the association Société Patrimoine Hérémence she published works on everyday life in the Val des Dix side valley during the construction of the Dixence (1929–1935) and Grande Dixence (1951–1965) dams . She presents the history of public health in Valais in several works. Video projects with her participation were also dedicated to this topic and the history of women.

In 1994 she received the Henry-E Prize for her dissertation L'Accouchement entre tradition et modernité . Siegrist of the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine , and in 2019 the municipality of Hérémence dedicated the Coup de coeur award to it .
