Marie-Jacques "Jacotte" Perrier (born November 22, 1924 in Paris ; † November 29, 2012 there ) was a French singer and fashion journalist who made recordings with Django Reinhardt when she was thirteen .

Live and act

Jacotte Perrier came into contact with jazz at an early age through her parents Madeleine and Robert Perrier, who were amateur musicians and also composed ( Noël pour Jacotte ) . She played in the children's orchestra of Albert Jeanneret , Le Corbusier's brother . When she was six, her grandparents took her to a Jack Hylton concert at the Théâtre de l'Empire . Her parents knew artists and musicians such as Robert , Sonia and Charles Delaunay , Joséphine Baker and the composer and jazz lover Jean Tranchant (1904–1992), so that contact with Michel Warlop and Stéphane Grappelli was established.

Jean Tranchant wrote the chanson Salades de l'Oncle François for the young Jacotte , which she recorded in 1938 with Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt (Columbia DF2344). On January 5, 1938, she recorded another vocal number with Reinhardt, Ric et Pussy , published as "La Petite Jacotte Perrier". The Quintette du Hot Club de France also included Stéphane Grappelli (violin), Joseph Reinhardt (rhythm guitar) and Sigismond Beck (double bass) at this session . In 1938 Perrier also recorded the children's songs La poule et les poussins and Le petit chat de la fermière (Columbia DF-2338) with the Orchester Marcel Cariven .

Between 1936 and 1939 Jacotte Perrier appeared several times on French radio, a. a. in a duo with Mouloudji , in skits and in advertising. She was accompanied by (jazz) orchestras by Jo Bouillon , Jacques Météhen and Aimé Barelli , as well as by Jacques Oudart (Le petit cheval) .

From 1955 she worked as a fashion journalist for Women's Wear Daily and the Daily News Record .

At the age of 80 she recorded an album with her parents' compositions (Échos du R. 26) under her maiden name Marie-Jacques Perrier , accompanied by Philippe Milanta ; Stéphane Grappelli also accompanied her on La pluie sur le toit . She is not to be confused with the French costume designer of the same name.
