Marie Sann

Marie Sann (born November 14, 1986 in Berlin ) is a German illustrator and comic artist . Most of her previously published works are drawn in a style typical of mangas . Her most extensive project to date is the comic adaptation Frostfeuer of the fantasy novel of the same name by Kai Meyer .

Career

Marie Sann started drawing as a child and became aware of the Manga style around 1998 . Before its first publication, it won drawing competitions for Modern Graphics and the Berlin Comic Fair, as well as the manga talent competitions in 2002 and 2003 at the Leipzig Book Fair .

In 2004 she got to know the comic artist and author Guido Neukamm while recording for the television show Reläxx on the children's channel . In February 2005 a short story of the two appeared in the first edition of Manga Fieber , a short story volume to promote German cartoonists. They worked together on the volume Sketchbook Berlin for the Tokyopop publishing house .

Sann also designed five copies of the Nintendo DS and school bags for Herlitz . She also drew the band members of Nevada Tan as cartoon characters for Universal Music .

From 2007 to 2010 she trained as a graphic designer . At the same time, in collaboration with Neukamm, the comic series Krähen was created , which was drawn entirely in pencil. Sann draws as a freelance illustrator for various clients (previously for e.g. Herlitz, Bravo , Tip Magazin, Universal Music , Olympiastadion Berlin , Nintendo Europe, Radon Labs , Perry Rhodan and various authors). In 2010 Sann supported the Buddy Bear campaign by sticking her manga-style pictures on a 1 m tall bear. This was auctioned off at a charity event for the benefit of children in need .

For the special edition of the first volume of the 2011 series of new pocket novels, Perry Rhodan Neo , she drew colored portraits of the main characters in the novel. The artist also took part as a guest at the 5th Perry-Rhodan-Weltcon from September 30th to October 2nd, 2011 in Mannheim. Since 2011 she has been adapting the fantastic novel Frostfeuer by Kai Meyer on behalf of Splitter Verlag in collaboration with the author Yann Krehl . Work on the three-volume comic series was finished in spring 2014.

In addition to her work as an illustrator and comic artist, Marie Sann worked as a game artist at Wooga in Berlin from 2010 to 2013 . She has been working on her own projects since 2014, including the cartoon project Sputtitäten . In 2016 she founded the label Kinky Karrot , under which she creates and markets modern pin-ups.
