At the beginning of her sports career, Berger was an alpine ski racer . From December 2005 she took part in FIS races , from December 2007 in European Cup races. She achieved the best results in the super-G and giant slalom disciplines . She won two FIS races and was among the top ten four times in the European Cup. Since there was no further success, she switched to the freestyle discipline ski cross after the end of the 2010/11 season and then only took part in alpine ski races sporadically.
Berger made her debut in the Freestyle World Cup on December 17, 2011 in San Candido , where she immediately finished seventh. With four more top 10 placements, she was able to maintain her position among the world's best, the best result in her debut season was fourth. She also came in fourth at the X-Games 2012. The 2012/13 season was similar . After six top 10 results in a row, she achieved her first World Cup podium finish on February 3, 2013 with third place in Grasgehren . At the 2013 World Championships in Voss, she finished sixth. During the 2013/14 season she was six times among the top ten in the World Cup, and at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished in 19th place.
After four top 10 results in the World Cup at the beginning of winter 2014/15 , Berger had to break off the season in January 2015 due to an injury. In the 2015/16 season she was twice in the top ten. During the 2016/17 season , she achieved a second place and two third places in the World Cup. At the highlight of the season, the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , she was sixth. In the 2017/18 World Cup , she finished second three times (behind Sandra Näslund ). She achieved her first World Cup victory on December 21, 2019 in San Candido .
