Marije Brummel

Marije Brummel (born March 19, 1985 in Zwolle ) is a Dutch soccer player . Since the 2008/09 season she has been active for the sc Heerenveen in the Eredivisie .

Club career

Brummel began playing soccer in the boys' team at VV Emst in 1995. Her role model at this time was Marc Overmars . While she was mostly used in attack as a right winger in her youth , she now mainly plays as a right defender or in midfield. In 2000 she moved to SC Klarenbeek , with whom she was promoted to the Hoofdklasse in her first season as master of the first class . Two seasons later, Klarenbeek was relegated again, and Brummel was active in the Eerste Klasse for another season before moving to SV Saestum in 2004 . With the Zeisterinnen she was twice Dutch champion. In 2006 she moved to Be Quick '28 in her hometown of Zwolle. When the Eredivisie was founded a year later, she went to FC Twente , where she scored a goal in 20 league games and won the KNVB Cup . Also in Enschede, she only stayed a year and switched to sc Heerenveen for the 2008/09 season. Here she made all 24 Eredivisie games of the season. With the Frisian club, she was able to improve to fourth in the 2010/11 season after sixth and fifth in previous years.

National team

Brummel was appointed to the youth national teams of the KNVB from the U-12 . In the U-17 team she played together with Kirsten van de Ven and Manon Melis, among others . On February 21, 2007 she made her debut in the A-Elf . During the European Championship qualification it was part of the squad, but was only used eight times in friendly matches and tournaments. On August 8, 2009, she scored her only goal against Poland . She was then also part of the Dutch squad at the European Championship finals in Finland. By April 2011, she had made 20 international matches in the Oranje jersey.
